We did it! We can say we made it a full year without leaving the country. Is this a good accomplishment? To slow the Spread of Covid, Yes, for our mental health (*Place shrug emoji here*). Now that the vaccine has come out and we can start to create a sense of herd immunity, we can talk about places that have had strict Covid testing in the year of 2020, that will continue to be safe to travel in 2021. These places are typically tourism towns that have a financial alternative motive to allowing travelers in. But never-the-less they have taken the precautions to allow their main source of income also be safe to tourists.

Barbados

Barbados has some of the strictest rules when it comes to Covid testing. Here is a little background before you book your trip. You will need to get a qualifies PCR test 72 hours before landing in Barbados. This means you will need to plan it accordingly if it is past the 72 hour mark they will wait for the airline you flew in on to return you back on a flight. Then as soon as you get to Barbados they have the option to get tested at the airport or At the hotel. This Second PCR test (If it comes back negative) will then give you full range to the facilities.

During the 48 hour waiting period of test results you will be allowed to:

They have a wristband system usually, Green means that you have complete access to the facilities with a mask of course, Yellow means you are in an incubation period of awaiting your test results. And red means your test results cam back positive and you have to quarantine in your room. A lot of resorts will upgrade your room with a private pool if your test comes back positive since you can NOT leave your room and will not be receiving housekeeping.

Tulum

Tulum has a more lax approach to the covid travel 2021 regulations. they still require mask sand have hand sanitizer kiosks up. But they do not require a covid test before or after entering the country. At first this was a red flag for me and my clients. But after getting ahold of some of the locals and discussing with them the regulations put in place I felt more comfortable. here is what a few of them had to say:

The flights to Tulum would be into Cancun. From there you would drive an hour and a half to Tulum. There are a ton of amazing VRBOS and all inclusive resorts. But what excites me the most about Tulum is the caves and snorkeling done there. I have had the opportunity to speak with a few small business that are all about finding the least travelled times to famous place sin Tulum. The Cenotes ae known for their amazing cave like features and the incredible snorkeling done there.

Maldives

The Maldives, although tricky and expensive to get to form USA is one of the many secluded islands that do allow travelers. The seclusion is often what Covid 2021 travelers want. Maldives is known for its private grass huts and clear blue waters, check the weather and be cautious of monsoon and hurricane seasons. there are a lot of travel 2021 predictions that the Maldives will lower the cos of flights to encourage the tourism industry to come back strong. Maldives cheapest season is from May-November but this is also when it is more likely to rain while you are there, It will still be warm.

Barcelona

Barcelona is a city that doesn’t get colder then 60 degrees F. They are known for their roof top city pools and crowded beaches. One of the benefits of travelling in winter, (or really any month but July/ August) is that the beaches will have less people on them. From Barcelona you can explore the Spanish island like Ibiza, or go to the beaches. Barcelona is known for their night life, which will be on pause during a covid travel. You will be pretty limited to your hotel and beaches, but if you are looking for a warm getaway this is definitely one to look at.
