Budget Travel: Nashville TN

Budget Planning Musts:

When you start to plan your trip to Nashville, you need to think about how long you want to stay. I am planning a quick weekend trip to visit a friend in Nashville. It’s only for two nights and 3 days. We want to hit up the bars one night, and go to the music scene Nashville has to offer.

But where do you start?

PLANNING MUSTS

-Plan in advance (at least two months domestically, 6 months internationally)
-Compare prices
-Plan activities

Plan in Advance

I snagged a deal on Airbnb in January for a cute Nashville Cottage. I am travelling with a veteran, and asked the host if she would be willing to a do a discount.

I can not promise that every Airbnb host will be so kind because I have been denied before. But if you have a legit reason to ask for a discount (military, student, repeating customer) the Host does have the ability to send you a “Special Offer”

Compare Prices

In Nashville for the times I wanted to go, Hotels were about $150 per night. So then I found the Airbnb for under $80 a night (before asking for a discount) It was a no brainer to go with Airbnb.

Overtime, I have noticed a lot of people struggle with finding budget flights. One of the reasons to be blessed to be living in LA is that LAX is a major hub and has a lot of one way flights, which tend to be cheaper (& better mentally) when booking flights around the world.

Personally, I use Skyscanner.com (non affiliated link) and google flights to help me compare pricing. These sites also help me also decide what dates are the best to go somewhere financially like when we plan for Italy in 2020.

For Nashville, I guess its hard to fill up flights from Sunny LA to Cold Nashville in the end of January, because these flights were under $100 each way. These are the flights I found a month in advance. The bold number is for one person, the number underneath in grey is the price for two people.

Plan activities

We already knew we wanted to go to the bars in Nashville. The first thing I want to do is look at “hotspots” down town.

I love Pinterest for this. It helps me get a wide variety of views on the best places to go. I only use these bars as references, I find nights out go best when they are loosely planned.

When ever I am stumped for planning activities I ask my Aribnb host, or my hotel. They know what people come back saying they loved to do.

I also found these are the people who have the best suggestions for restaurants as well, and they love talking about their city to people who are genuinely looking for advice. I found these three places to review when I go to Nashville at the end of January 2020.

This restaurant looks like it has a lot of tasty cocktails & healthier options. There’s also homemade gelato and craft coffee available as well which, in addition to the tasty brie-filled wrap I enjoyed here, lands this Nashville restaurant on my list of some of the best food in Nashville.

I have been to the museum of country music in Nashville before, and wanted to try something new. When I saw there was a museum just about Johnny Cash it immediately made the list.

Tequila Cowboy

I wanted to pick a bar that was around a lot of other bars to walk to. This bar is in the heart of Nashville on Broadway street. It is in a high volume part of the street and allows us to walk to multiple bars if we get bored.

I will update you all in the trip! As for now, Enjoy planning your Trip to Nashville.
